Never. Ending. Railroad.

BNSF’s Rennicks Intermodal Yard is about 8 blocks away from my house. Unfortunately, it’s surrounded on all sides by a pretty high chain-link fence, but there is a “secret” pedestrian bridge right over the yard that gives you a bird’s eye view of it if you’re willing to walk through a somewhat dodgy neighborhood to get to it, although I’d say its fairly safe during daylight hours. This particular shot is from the new pedestrian bridge that RTD just built over 38th Street to access the future light rail station that will soon be the centerpiece of a redevelopment effort for said dodgy neighborhood. It just so happens that an Eastbound manifest (led by #638 in the foreground) was rolling toward Prospect Junction past a parked Z-Train just as I was walking by with my dogs. Does my dog walk often take me by Rennicks or the Joint Line? Well yes, isn’t that a coincidence… View Larger
