This was fun. During my last trip to Palmer Lake, I got to witness some manned helpers uncoupling in motion from a train. This helper team comprised of ES44C4 #6244 and SD70ACe #9291 detached themselves from the coal train they had just helped shove past Big Lift. There was an engineer up in #6244 and he walked over into #9291 to drive the engines back North to wait for the next assignment. They sat right in the middle of the park for about 15 minutes giving me a chance to photograph both units extensively. This shot of 6244 shows the robotic coupler-control apparatus to good effect. I have some close up shots of it that I may remember to post as well.
